Yes - Mauritius is a member of the Apostille Convention.

Mauritian documents can be legalized for use abroad with an Apostille Stamp when destined for other signatory countries without additional certification by the destination country.

When Mauritian documents are required for non-apostille countries, such as United Arab Emirates - Taiwan - Malaysia - Thailand - Zambia - Qatar they need additional authentication by the embassy of the destination country.

Apostilles for Mauritius marriage certificates, birth and death certificates, can be obtained from the Prime Minister's Office in Port Louis. A recent original certificate is required from the Civil Status Office.

Mauritius Certificates of Character (certifying an absence of a criminal record in Mauritius) can be obtained from

• the local Police Divisional Headquarters in Mauritius
• by registering on Maupass and clicking on the Certificate of Character icon
• through the Certificate of Character Portal
• through your nearest Mauritius Embassy

A Police Certificate of Character is available to Mauritius citizens and to non-citizens who have a residency or work permit in Mauritius. Certificates are issued in either English or French, on paper when the application is made at the Police Divisional Headquarters or as a digitally signed certificate when the application is made online.

Mauritius Certificates of Incorporation and Incumbency (COI) must be certified by the Registrar of Companies and then authenticated with an Apostille Stamp from the Prime Minister's Office.

A signed paper certificate or digital certificate with QR code is required, issued by the Mauritius Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mauritius university diplomas and course transcripts can be authenticated with an Apostille from the Prime Minister's Office following certification of the original certificate by the Ministry of Labour, Human Resource Development and Training or as true copies certified by a Mauritius notary and the Supreme Court.

Powers of Attorney can be authenticated in Mauritius with an Apostille Stamp from the Prime Minister's Office. The power of attorney must be notarized and then certified by the supreme court.
